Towards a more balanced residential market
Barbette de Graaf is driven by the ambition to make a contribution to portfolio optimisations and thus help improve the balance in the real estate market. Her sector-wide experience extends across commercial, public and residential real estate, but her focus in the past 10 years has been on residential properties. The housing market is out of kilter. Imbalances are visible between owner-occupied and rented housing, between social rented and free-market rented housing and, more specifically, between normal housing and housing for people with moderate or intensive care needs. These imbalances concern both quality and quantity, as well as the distribution across social and private landlords.
Nieuwstad OrangeGlobal pursues
portfolio optimisation in order to help achieve a better balance in the housing market
‘A transaction was a goal in itself for me in the 1990s, but these days it’s more a means to improve the portfolios of parties.’
With her services Barbette aims to help organisations bring their portfolios more into line with their primary target groups and tasks. Barbette is called in when interventions in the portfolio or organisation are required. Barbette provides her services, of which several examples are included in the Portfolio, to diverse clients.
At Nieuwstad OrangeGlobal,
process and substance go hand in hand
‘The purchase or sale of housing association properties, housing complexes or portfolios is a challenging process with many facets, and I often control the entire operation.’
Attracting more international capital to the Netherlands
Another priority of Barbette is to direct more funding from the international capital market towards the Dutch housing market. Commercial property in the Netherlands has attracted international investors for decades. But the Dutch residential market remains relatively new territory. That’s why Barbette is also seeking to extend her successful approach to this area.
